I've been renovating my house using this 3 piece set and have been so pleased with it's power and convenience. Battery lasts long, battery charges quickly, and both drills are just so comfortable to use. Having a LED light go on every time you use it is just fantastic to. I would never go back to what I had before. The only problem is; the flashlight didn't work when I got it, and after 3 months of using this one of the batteries just don't work. I'm now working off of one battery that sometimes won't charge, I have to keep an eye on it and keep putting it back on the charger for a full charge. Again, great product, I just think I got a bad set. The only problem with returning this is that; it's not taking it back to a store, you have to ship it out to Makita (Amazon's 30 day warranty is up) and wait for it to be fixed (however long that will take). In the meantime I have no a incomplete set. I recommend the product to anyone, from a homeowner to a contractor! I'm giving it 3 stars because of the inconvenience of returning broken goods....other than that I would given it the highest rating!!!!!!!

Drill works well. It's light, powerful, better than average. Batteries are terrible. Had the drill two years went through four 1.5 batteries. Drill finally died (after I bought a $100 3.0 mAh battery) so I bought the stand alone model just to replace the ridiculous fabric box case that came with this set. Good drill, not perfect but better than most everything out there. Why are batteries so expensive?!

Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit This combo was a great purchase, good power, fast charge time. I really liked the impact driver as it was a great time saver to reset all the screws in my deck.

Originally looking to go with a Rigid or Dewalt but this combo looked like a better deal and spoke with some people who said Makita's lithium-ion tools were more reliable. Tried this out and have been thoroughly impressed. I love the impact driver. I've always just used a drill or drill/driver and there's a huge difference when putting in screws. Would definitely buy again. The batteries charge very quickly, are very light and last a long time (more a result of lith-ion than anything specific to Makita). While I'd recommend this set to any homeowner or light contractor I'd also suggest lith-ion regardless of what brand you end up with.

I've had this combo for over a year now, and have used it to frame a shed/floor, install several windows, build a fence, and other miscellaneous applications. The impact driver is clearly the star of this set. It has absolutely insane torque and will drive just about anything you can imagine into any material. The batteries charge fast and hold up well for nonproduction level work. Using hex bits, I find myself using it as a drill as well. It is a real time saver and is a pleasure to use due to its light weight and power.
The included drill doesn't quite shine quite as brightly as the driver. Occasionally, the keyless chuck loosens unless you really tighten it up extra hard. It's not as heavy duty nor does it appear to be as well-built as my DeWalt DC984B, but it has no chuck wobble and is therefore more accurate. I've not put it to the heavy duty rough usage as the DeWalt, but I've not had any issues when I did use it.
As for the flashlight, I've not really used it much, so not much to comment on it.
The batteries are light and charge quickly at 15 minutes.
Overall, this is an excellent combo for just about anyone. Weekend DIY'ers will appreciate the quality and capabilities of the driver/drills, as will professionals (although the latter will likely opt for a set of the 3AH batteries). Highly recommended.
