Decent ring. I would recommend using with 2 D Cell or 2-4 C Cell lights only as anything bigger is just ridiculous to carry in the manner designed for this product. Not the greatest leather as far as I can tell by look and feel. I do not have enough time and use with it to reveal wear and durability but figure that compared to most other law enforcement grade holders that it would not stand up as well. Certainly not practical or tough enough for police work but may be desirable for light security and maintenance work.

MAGLITE ASXD036 Plain Leather Belt Holder for D-Cell Flashlight, Black
I bought this item so I could hang my 4 D-Cell Maglite on to my pack with a carbiner clip for backpacking trips. Works great for this application. Strapping the flashlight down with a bungee cord so that it does not flop around completes the job.

For my use this works great. So far I haven't had any issue getting the light it in or out, it does hit the on button sometimes and makes the light flash when you pull it out.
I haven't broken it in yet, and the button to close it is very tight, it takes a really firm tug to open it, I assume it will eventually get easier, if not too easy to open.
If you pack a flashlight every day you might want one deigned for that, but if your like me and just pack it on your person occasionally (camping trips, hunting, fishing...) this works fine.
